Analytics   For the intelligent way of data-driven grid operation.

With the digitalisation of the electrical distribution grids the efficiency of the process data management is coming into prominence.

You are aware of the importance of your databases and consider your company data an important value-added asset? We support you in the targeted transition of your processes - both in planning and in grid operation.

Each step of digitisation has its own requirements. To cope with these challenges we support you with the following strategies:

  • We check your data stock for inconsistencies and correct them
  • Depending on your requirements, we integrate the latest geodata into the inventory data.

Smart grids are not simply the result of integrating measurement technology. Only the targeted analysis and feedback of results can lead to intelligent decisions. When looking at real-time measurements, it becomes obvious that your distribution grids are as individual as a fingerprint. The next stage of digitisation raises the following questions:

  • Would you like to develop your distribution grids metrologically and initially equip only the most critical measuring points?
  • Do you already have measurements at the distribution grid level that you would like to analyze effectively for grid planning?
  • You recognize the benefits of electrical and meteorological measurement series and want to use both for forecast calculations?
  • Or are you already planning to use big-data methods to prepare large amounts of real-time information from your distribution grids for your decision-making processes, e.g. in control rooms?
  • The most important real-time information of the distribution grid are flowing with meteorological measurement series and forecasts into a hybrid database
  • This data is continuously and automatically analyzed, whereby the essential information and changes are extracted
  • Condensed data is available in a form that can be safely interpreted for grid planning and grid operation to enable a continuous improvement process. This avoids unnecessary investments in the medium term, conserves operating resources and reduces grid losses.
  • The amount of real-time information from the distribution grids has increased considerably
  • Meteorological measurements are used for continuous and automated grid forecasts
  • Initial optimisation strategies for grid management benefit from the comprehensive measurement data
  • The awareness of time-critical grid loads is available and can be reliably controlled by steerable equipment such as storage elements, reactive power control or remotely controllable topology changes. When and where is which increase in load expected? Which weather change will lead to unexpected loss of feed-in power from PV systems in particular grids?
  • Planning tasks are based extensively on the integral data model
  • Decentralized measurement data are taken into account in the decision-making process in planning issues
  • The evaluation of the real grid load is done with only a few measurement data
  • The data situation is continuously and automatically updated via modern information channels. This includes geodata on urban structure, population data and area load forecasts
  • Planning principles and decisions are adapted to the new state of information
  • Few decentralized measurements of individual distribution grids are stored in the database in a meaningful and structured way
  • The database is consolidated and prepared for an integrated data model
  • It provides the consistent basis for planning and operation
  • The recording of dynamic time series from the distribution grids is rudimentarily available
  • Use of multiple database systems that work separately from each other
  • Information retrievals are slow and difficult to interpret
  • Distribution grid data is available in digital format, whereby changes in the inventory are only maintained manually with a long delay

We provide:

  • The development and support of a holistic strategy for the digital transition of your supply grids
  • Plausibility check and correction of your master and variable data with the help of data mining methods
  • Integration and extension of geoinformation as well as real-time measurements (e.g. RLM and Smart-Meter) in your decision-making processes
  • Linking the analysis results with the processes of asset management and control rooms

Your benefits:

  • Your supply area becomes more transparent
  • Data-supported decisions increase the efficiency of your grid management
  • Tedious and error-prone data consolidation processes are drastically reduced
  • Your employees can make better decisions in less time
  • Comfortable reporting for different stakeholders (e.g. executive summaries)

Simulation   Secure a technological lead and start the new era of power system analysis.

Traditional methods of grid planning have always provided a secure foundation for reliable energy transport. However, the transformation of the distribution grids leads to new types of consumption and feed-in situations that can no longer be adequately represented by these methods. Particularly on the distribution grid level

  • large capacity reserves or existing bottlenecks can be reliably identified through the consistent linking of new modeling methods with the database
  • more comprehensive georeferenced data sets on the consumption and feed-in situation can be used for grid optimization
    • Specific plant data of the decentralized generation plants
    • Geodata on urban and population structures
    • Integration of classic measurement series from RLM customers and
    • new data sets from e.g. smart meters and power quality analyzers
  • Particularly at the distribution grid level, new types of equipment can be optimally positioned and parameterized, such as
    • general measurement technology
    • adjustable local grid transformers
    • use of reactive power management
    • time-dependent grid load balancing through topology adaptation and
    • further smart grid technology

We provide:

  • The use of state-of-the-art simulation technology for new types of consumers and feeders
  • Optimisation of the supply grid (e.g. reduction of grid losses) based on modern geo-information
  • Development of deconstruction and conversion strategies to reduce the complexity of the distribution grid
  • Energy meteorological models for forecasting solar and wind yield in the supply area

Your benefits:

  • You use the full potential of your database (static and dynamic data) to make optimal decisions
  • The technical consequences of data-driven decisions can be checked quickly and plausibly
  • The use of statistical calculation methods significantly reduces worst-case assumptions
